A Spell is a negative belief that has a profound influence over us and manipulates the way we think. They set us up for disappointment, frustration, and disillusionment and they can become curses if we allow them to consume us over time. Here are 6 strategies to break spells:
1. Be conscious of the information you're being fed, and then challenge the accepted belief around the information – ask yourself where did it originate – is it a personal spell, a generational spell, societal, global and how relevant or true is it….? Always question the belief (if its a personal spell) or the motivation behind the situation (if its a societal spell).
2. Stay impersonal about things - be the objective observer. Imagine you’re watching yourself from a distance, as if you’re observing someone else’s situation. This visualization can help create a mental gap that allows for more neutral thinking. Instead of immediately judging a situation, try asking, “What am I noticing right now?” or “What are the facts?” This shifts the focus from judgment to observation. Reflect with curiosity rather than judgment helps you recognize patterns and reactions over time.
3. Adopt a different language and behavior around situations that may be perceived as lacking like “I'm so lucky—I get to stay in on this rainy day, cozying up with a Netflix series that doesn’t judge me for being in my pajamas with my favorite popcorn” instead of “I can’t do anything in this weather”. Or “I'm so lucky—I get to handpick my sisterhood, so I've got a support system that accepts that I’m a little unhinged and extra at times!” instead of “I’m lonely because…..”. Then act on these affirmations and choose your popcorn flavor on call a friend to fill the empty gaps when you want to be with people.
4. Learn to manage your energy field (to be discussed in a future episode). There is so much magic that takes place when we understand our energetic frequencies and how we have the ability to control them.
5. If you want to break a personal spell of "I can’t do ……", try imagining yourself having reached the goal and you’re living at the end of it. This is called the Law of Assumption (slightly different from the law of attraction). Feel the goal, smell it, taste it, hear it. What does it look like? Then act like that goal is already fulfilled. And then trace the steps that it will take to get you to get to this point and make an action plan to initiate those steps. Maybe you really do want to have $5 million dollars in your bank account – so set a realistic time frame and take the steps that are necessary to get you there. Its only unrealistic if you think its going to appear without effort, rather than having to act on it. And Inaction is one of the biggest obstacles that people have when trying to manifest their goals.
6. And lastly, keep your mental diet focused on gratitude. Appreciating what we already have, on a regular basis, can eliminate the feeling of lack and any of the feelings associated with unworthiness, because lack and unworthiness are often the sources of these negative spells.
As you become a master manifester, or modern day witch, ensure that you're discerning of all the information coming your way – and that means developing really great spell filters. Spell filters include self awareness, setting clear intentions and boundaries, challenging your thoughts and grounding yourselves on a regular basis.
