Becoming aware of your thoughts can alter how you feel and respond to a situation in any given moment. And its likely that you'll be surprised by what comes up. Check in with yourself in the morning, afternoon and evening (because your thoughts are constantly changing). Ask yourself:
What am I thinking - the first thing that comes to mind - don't judge it
What am I feeling - what is the emotion or emotions that you feel as a result of that thought?
Where in my body am I feeling it - do a body scan and see if there's an area in your body that is related to that emotion(s) (often its our stomach, shoulders, head or heart)?
This exercise becomes really useful when you're checking in regularly. Remember.... our bodies are always providing us with feedback with sensory sensations. Also know that you can always change a thought at any given time, to change the way you feel and the way you behave.
